About Rails Tutorial
The goal of Ruby on Rails Tutorial is to involve both beginning developers and experienced members of the Rails community to make the best possible tutorial for Ruby on Rails. I'm Michael Hartl, founder of the Rails Tutorial project, and I'm grateful to have the support of the Rails Activists and many other members of the Rails community. I'm open to help from all quarters, and those interested in contributing suggestions and feedback should subscribe to the Rails Tutorial news feed and follow @railstutorial on Twitter to stay up-to-date with the project's efforts.
About the Author
As a coauthor of RailsSpace, a best-selling Rails tutorial book published in 2007, Michael Hartl has substantial experience explaining Ruby on Rails both to beginning and to experienced programmers. Unfortunately, though well-received in its time, RailsSpace is now badly out-of-date, and the Rails Tutorial project was born of a desire to write a more agile Rails book, one that can be revised easily with each new development in Rails.
Michael is an experienced Rails developer, serving as lead programmer for the Insoshi social networking platform, one of the most popular forked repositories at GitHub. He is also a skilled teacher, having previously served as a physics instructor at Caltech for five years, where he received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Michael is a graduate of Harvard College, has a Ph.D. in Physics from Caltech, and is an alumnus of the Y Combinator program.
